“I was always very fond of that side of dreamlinking,” Mirar said, with a secretive little smile. He leaned back, gathering her against him while she stroked her fingers over his chest. She was in a possessive mood today. Wholly approving of that, he ran his own hands over her back, playing with her in such a way that her clothes began to ride up and expose her skin. When that happened, he oh-so-innocently let his hands drift onto the bare skin of her back, which he touched and stroked with far more tenderness.
“I did, after all, invent the concept. Which might explain its ease of use in situations like that.”
Mirar had made ample use of it in his time. But real touch was better. To prove that, he leaned down to kiss her lips very gently. He couldn’t help himself with her, anyway. She was the focus for all this kind of affection from him now. All the desire he felt, every sense of need for companionship, was focused on and satisfied by her. She made him truly happy. It was a strange thought, because he had spent most of his very long life believing that there would never be any one person who would do that. He’d never been sorry for that fact, but that was largely because he hadn’t known what he was missing. He threaded his fingers through her hair now, smiling at her.
“I’ll sneak around with you again any time you like. A room ought to be easier than a tent. At least this time we’re only worried about offending people, and in all reality, Auraya. I was never going to get through this without doing that.”
